4th Qtr ‘07 update

December 3rd, 2007

GCC, or Grace Car Care has been very active over the last few months. The Lord has blessed us with three donated cars which we quickly fixed and turned around to needy family’s in the greater Leesburg area. The cars we received were a toyota avalon, ford taurus and a kia sportage. They are all being put to very good use in our community. We are doing our best to also help out with service and maintenance with the cars we give away, but it’s not always possible due to car parts being quite expensive. Just this week we replaced a broken water pump on the ford taurus we gave away.

A big thanks to ‘BUCK’, a very good friend to GCC, who is constantly volunteering his time to help fix broken vehicles. (We are always searching for new volunteers - you don’t even have to get your hands dirty).

If you feel led to help our service please know that 100% of any funds you give will be spent directly on fixing donated vehicles or parts for vehicle maintenance in our community. Services provided by our group is all volunteer. Please also remember to pray for this service, that we will continue to help make a difference in our community in 2008.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
John Austin.

February 12th, 2007

We at carcare are VERY excited about the news that we may soon have access to a local garage right here in Leesburg to work on cars! This is an incredible answered prayer which I thought was out of reach for our little organization - goes to show how BIG our God is….

LOVING-KINDNESS, NOT FORGOTTEN

January 29th, 2007

Hel-l-o-o-o my dear John!!

Hope very much, that you, yours, and things are well.
I do ask for your forgiveness in not giving you my deeply felt gratitude until now.
I am still not in a space of my own, even though i’ve had the money!!?? So much for money!!
Please know that when i lived in Leesburg, VA, from Feb - June of 2006, my living was not made possible without the principled kindness of your programs assistance in getting my vehicle in legal/physical working order!!
From the moment i arrived @ the shelter from Boston MA you/your organization paid for two new tires, (one blow-out on hgwy 95S in Delaware, hence, resulting in need for the a spare plus a badly wore tire to replace). Along with some mechanical repairs $$ that were done.
Then there were the inspection/registration obligations that needed to be met. This obligation became a nightmare due to my car having a left rear fog-lamp light the was broken. The law requires it to be completey replaced because of it existing on the car @ the time of the inspection.
What a 4wk project it was to find a reasonably price one that did’nt exist…we/you paid the $279.84 robbery price for the complete fog lamp assembly kit??!!!! (Happily i was able to contribute a share of $100.00 of that bribe money!!!)
Finally after this and a vioaltion later we were able to make my car legal. Of which your organization helped me again with the fees. (violation was completely dropped and money returned to me…yea !!!)
Needless to say, i was not able to work much during this robbery period. Nevertheless, you hung in there with me and each painful step!!
John, you know i know there is a God. We know by looking @ a beautiful clear starry night, by knowing about the water cycles of the earth. How they never over-flow. How the earth is placed just so from the sun, on an axis rotating precisely to give us results we need and enjoy!!! But when we look at each other and our actions and choices we are perplexed. But when were blessed to come upon humans that practice agap’e love towards their fellow humans then we are truely convinced there is a God of Love. Furthermore, a God that has been successfull in bestowing his image (attributes of: LOVE, Wisdom, Justice, Power) in us. He who is looking for such like ones for them to get to know him in truth and with spirit-zeal. -Jo 4:23,24.
The mere words THANK YOU are not adequate….(I wish i spoke Hebrew!!!) But my prayers i know are! Be asured they ascend in your behalf and for your continued endeavors to impartially help those in need.
At this writting, i am still trying to find my own space. And will never forget your organizations loving-kindnesses…..
Very sincerely,
S.R.

We have a garage!

December 5th, 2006

It’s been a while since I have updated this blog, but the car care service is still very busy and we now have a garage in Chantilly, VA. (Thanks to http://www.loudounhomeless.org/). We have slowed down a bit since it’s getting cold out there if you haven’t noticed ;) - and we currently don’t have any heat at the garage, so myself and any volunteers usually work there on Saturday’s and try to let the sun keep us warm while we work on cars.

This past Saturday I was able to replace the rear brake calipers, rotors and pads on a ‘96 ford taurus. (For a local Leesburg lady who is single and has kids - and not very much $).

I will be meeting this week with a local father and son ‘team’ which are interested in starting their own car care service for the community - great stuff!

Thanks for reading this and please visit again.
Regards,
John Austin

Thank-you card from Tony

January 24th, 2006

Carcare was able to install new brakes and a muffler this week for Tony’s vehicle; below is part of the card he sent:

THANK YOU
Your help has meant so much!

YOU’RE TRULY A BLESSING…..
May God multiply the goodness you have sown…

” ‘Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over…’ ” Luke 6:38 KJV

Thanks Tony, I love this verse.

Car from Philly

January 11th, 2006

Grace Car care recevied a special gift from a local organization who I have not asked for permission to publish so they will be ‘anonymous’ for now. They handed us a check to purchase a vehicle for a needy person staying at a local shelter. We found a nice Toyota Camry in Philly. I took the train to Philly and drove the car back to Leesburg on Saturday. The whole transaction and trip went without a hitch. The car has already been delivered to John J., who has already been to the DMV and inspection process. John J. is a great guy and very deserving of this vehicle. Now he does not need to rely on others to get him to work and back home. John J. and I had a great time of talking about life and family on the trip to pick my truck up from the train station. Good luck John J., (I think God is looking out for you….).
